The 13th International
Economic Forum on Africa will take place in the
OECD Conference Centre on Monday 7 October, 2013.
This annual
Forum organised by the Development Centre brings together OECD
and African policy-makers with academia, civil society and private
sector leaders to discuss Africa’s main challenges and opportunities. This
year, the Forum will focus on strategies to promote greater economic
diversification and inclusive development in the continent. Some of the key
questions to be addressed are:
- What are the necessary conditions for natural resource wealth to promote broad-based and sustainable development?
- What does the future of Africa’s energy resources look like?
- What policies can effectively accelerate the integration of African firms into regional and global markets and value chains?
The debates
will build on the conclusions of the African Economic Outlook 2013 report, jointly produced by
the OECD Development Centre, the African Development Bank (AfDB),
the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP).
Among the
speakers of this conference, will be H.E. Macky Sall, President of
Senegal, the Secretary-General of the OECD Angel Gurría, Donald
Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank, and Carlos
Lopes, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
